Was it a good decision to follow the medical advice of a taxi driver and go to Mexico for treatment with a psychedelic (ibogaine)?
DRUMROLL, And the verdict is…
YES! Definitely, yes.
It has been 2 and a half months after the treatment, and I feel good!
I don’t want to jinx it, but these are the things I’ve noticed that are better:
1. Fatigue: It has magically disappeared. I no longer just want to sleep 😴 on the couch
! I feel like myself again. I have to figure out ways to entertain myself!
I can now go to physical therapy and accomplish more. Usually after a good session of physical therapy I cannot function for the next 2-3 days because of fatigue! Thankfully, that is no longer the case.
2. Mood: I am happier! Before Mexico, I was very annoying according to my daughter
I would get mad at the silliest things and I had a VERY short fuse! You could never tell what would trigger me! But this is what happens when you are SOO tired 🥱
Now I am back to being my happy self 😀
3. Temperature regulation:
I’m very sensitive to heat. When your nerves don’t have the protective covering (myelin), it’s difficult for nerves to function property especially when it’s hot. 🥵 This has improved significantly! Hot showers don’t affect me. I used to take Tylenol every other day because any increase in temperature would make me feel horrible! The Tylenol would help by decreasing my body temperature. Now I don’t remember when I last took Tylenol!
4. Fine motor skills: My handwriting is actually legible now! Don’t get me wrong, it’s still horrible but it’s possible to read it! I am slowly figuring out how to zip up my coat and put on gloves. These tasks were impossible before.
Now let’s look at the downside. I still can’t walk, but I’m trying to get stronger! Maybe one day…
But there is one thing ibogaine has done that I am so thankful for: HOPE
Multiple sclerosis is horrible. You slowly watch your body deteriorating. Every function starts chipping away…the only thing keeping you going is your husband and daughter. But then magically this random taxi driver appears and gives you a solution to all your problems… I now have hope that things can get better ❤️🩹
