After 2 months of being in Cleveland, I missed home! It’s good to be back and drive down our beloved 7 mile road. Hehe I even got some coffee from Tim Horton’s!
But unfortunately, we have to crash at my parents’ place since there is construction going on at our house. So we’re home…but not exactly 😋
So it’s been one month since the transplant, and I’m still not at how I was before it! They say it’ll take 3-4 months to return to baseline. So what’s been going on with me:
❤️ Heart ❤️ It’s been on overdrive mode! My heart rate has been in the 130s-140s (normal is below 100) Most likely it’s because of all the deconditioning but just to make sure, I get to wear a monitor that records my heart beat.
Swelling– my poor feet look like elephant feet 🦶Probably when my nutritional status improves, this will get better
Eating– It’s getting better! I can’t take big bites but my esophagus is slowly getting used to food🍲
Fevers– I had a scare two weeks ago when I kept having a low grade fever in the middle of the night! They did blood cultures and thankfully did not have to be admitted to the hospital again! I still have PTSD from before!
Medications– Since they killed everything in my body, I had to take a lot of medications post transplant. Hehe look at all the pretty colors
Meds include:
Steroids- to prevent engraftment syndrome
Fluconazole- have to take 41 days post transplant to keep those fungi away
Acyclovir- it’s an anti-viral, must take up to 6 months post
Pentamidine- usually they give Bactrim, but I’m allergic! So instead I get an inhaled antibiotic once a month- need to keep that Pneumocystis away
So for a person who hates swallowing pills, this is torture! 😋 Thankfully, I have apple sauce to make swallowing pills 💊 easier!!
Now I will continue to swallow pills in Michigan and will go back to Cleveland for monthly appointments! 😀
🏘Welcome back to your home Veena- keep it up –
