I finally was able to relax after getting back from Cleveland. No more seeing doctors daily, and getting IVs! It was awesome! I thought my body was ready to heal, but my heart had other plans. My heart had not forgiven me for putting it through all of this. So it decided to revolt and go into overdrive mode!
Normally the human heart beats between 60-100 beats per minute. My heart rate was anywhere from 130-180 while I was just sitting . I went to the cardiologist and he said I was in SVT ( Supraventricular tachycardia). Basically this means that my heart decided not to follow its normal rhythm, and decided to beat super fast. The cardologist gave me pills to slow the heart, but my heart is very stubborn kind of like its owner…so that didn’t work. 😋
Next step was to go to the emergency department to shock the heart. Maybe that would stop this temper tantrum! But before the docs brought out the paddles, they decided to try adenosine.
I was just lying on the ED bed resting, and my heart was running a marathon, ticking away at 148 beats per minute…
And then came the Adenosine. The docs warned me that it’ll feel like your breath is taken away. And they were DEFINITELY not kidding! It’s the WEIRDEST feeling…like your heart pauses for a second! But the adenosine magically reset my heart and now it was back to pumping normally!
HEART RATE IS 91!! 😀😀😀😀
So take away points:
-Tachycardia can be normal after transplant because of all the deconditioning, but it shouldn’t be THIS fast
-Be nice to your heart ❤️. Sometimes they just have bad days and need something to get them back on track
Veena, you are such a strong person! As scary as this must’ve been, you relay the experience in a graceful, humorous way. Continue your journey as only YOU can –with fearless Grace!
Blessings to you – Sandi, YMMS
Thanks so much Sandi!! 😀❤️
It is good to know “your heart is as stubborn as it’s owner”. So you would know how to manage. Good girl. Just tell that heart to behave. I was bit worried that didn’t see your update. Keep up the good work.
Aww thanks so much Mary Aunty!! 🥰
There are benefits of being stubborn-they work through obstacles, they know what they want – what action they must take -just check bending your thumb- you can figure out your stubbornness😄
