HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!I’m one year old today! 😯🥳
I had my stem cell transplant Feb 1, 2021 and now it’s been 1 year!!
I decided to google 1 year old milestones of babies, and I’m definitely on track…
Growth
Your baby’s weight has likely tripled since birth.
Thankfully this didn’t happen…😋
But I did gain some muscle and fat! I no longer have thighs that resemble twigs.
Motor:
Your 1-year-old should be standing alone and “cruising”– walking while holding onto furniture
That’s exactly what I’m doing! When I don’t use my walker, my husband describes me as a monkey who swings from wall to wall!
Sleep 💤
By one year, your baby should be sleeping less during the day and more at night.
I agree, the naps have stopped and I’m more awake during the day! 😀
Communication
By one year, babies are becoming more social. Your baby will prefer certain people to others now. You can see them becoming shy or anxious around strangers, and clinging to you when you try to leave.
Umm this is very true! I’ve started to go out more and meet friends! I’m still nervous when I’m left home alone… will I choke? Will I fall? What silly thing will I end up doing?
Vaccines
I am getting my baby shots! These include: dTap, Prevnar, HepA, HepB, Polio, Hflu, Meningitis
I’ve also gotten COVID and shingles!
I’ve been a pin cushion!! 😀
Take away points:
- Healing from a stem cell transplant is a long process! I’m not close to where I was before the transplant, but I keep reminding myself that babies take time to develop. According to the milestones, I’m right on track 😀
- Benefits from the transplant: My fatigue has improved significantly, as well as my brain fog!I’m not on any MS meds and I’ll get a repeat MRI in June to see how I am!
- Long term effects: I’m 38 years old and in menopause! So this is one of the risks you have to worry about, but thankfully it doesn’t matter for me, other than the occasional hot 🥵 flashes!
Right now I’m working hard 😓 and trying to gain back my strength!
I’m getting trained by the same people who train the Detroit Red Wings. I figure if they can’t make me walk, no one can! 😋
Go Veena! Like Mathew used to sing to Micah ” Move arms, legs, get strong!”
