3 Months Out

It’s a roller coaster!
It’s been three months since my bone marrow transplant and some days have been good and others bad! 😋 I’ll be feeling strong and energetic one day, and then completely wiped out the next!

In the past three months, I’ve been to the emergency room THREE times! Even one of the nurses recognized me. Not exactly the place I want to be popular…
So two of the visits were for my heart, but now that’s fixed. And the third visit was for a kidney stone! My daughter was so excited about this because an ambulance came to get me!

So other than the random crazy events, things are starting to get back to normal-ish:

I had human contact with people other than my family! I had a short visit with my neighbors! 😀

I finally got my first COVID shot like the rest of the world! You have to wait 3 months to get it so your body can build an appropriate immune response.

My immune system is still building up! I have to take acyclovir and pentamidine(most take bactrim but I’m allergic) as prophylaxis until 6 months post.

My hair is slowly coming!! My daughter and husband have so much fun running their fingers through my newly found hair! 😀

I’m still walking with my walker and need a wheelchair to get around longer distances.

So that’s a quick summary of the past three months. Hopefully things will get better…only time will tell 😀

  1. Dear Veena,
I am very happy to see you in much better shape than before, immediately after bone marrow transplant. Your hairs are growing thick and nicely, that is a good sign of recovery I think. Every three months, you will see improvements, soon you will be normal like during college days. We all wish you all the best and full recovery soon. Please keep posted about your progress.
My best wishes always for you.
